To Caine it often felt as though the entire span of his existence had been nothing but an exercise in futility.

He bit into it.
The heart fruit was sweet, absolutely gushing with a purple juice that leaked out and stained the tips of his glove. It was almost sickening, but it was also terribly addictive, and it immediately called to him to just take another bite.
