Silence stretched outward. The tension gathering between them stagnated and broke as Mark halted mid-hover to spy a shiny dark glass bottle of beer in hand. Eve was holding a bottle identical to his, materialized from gleaming signs of her power. On the reddish label was a winking apple with a cape and fangs. A soft clink indicated Eve had raised her drink to tap against his with a sweet curving mouth. Mark remained motionless, dread building up into a scenario he silently prayed was not happening.
“You can wait a little longer, can't you?” Eve implored, an edge of cheekiness to her flirty tone.
