Summary
The balcony is empty. The air is thick with summer heat.
Michaela steps closer than she should. Francesca's legs part, almost reflexively, for her husband’s cousin. Michaela slips between them and rests her hands on Francesca's thighs.
She leans in. Francesca can smell the limoncello on her breath. Her nose brushes Francesca's cheek.
"Tell me it's killing you like it's killing me," Michaela whispers against her skin.
Francesca trembles. Her need pulses in her chest, her stomach, lower still.
"Please, Fran."
"We can't."
"I know. I know."

Summary
University AU where Francesa is supposed to be in a perfectly loving relationship with her boyfriend, John, with a sensible future of marriage and children on the horizon, right up until John's cousin, Michaela Stirling, returns from a sabbatical abroad and Francesa finds herself, suddenly, hopelessly curious about another woman in ways that are utterly nonsensical.
Now Francesa finds herself unable to stay away and trying very hard not to think about why telling Michaela she and John are dating feels like it would ruin everything. Surely keeping that little detail about her relationship status cannot be seen as lying if Michaela never asked. Right?

Francesca character analysis type of story
“Why did you leave me?”
Francesca had long thought of confronting Michaela about it. She had imagined countless scenarios of the fight that would make her scream louder than she had ever allowed her voice to go.
They all contained explosive fights, venomous words, and undying bitterness. A fire she had fed with ire and resentment, at last unleashed.
They were nothing like what she had enabled just now. Her nose was red, and cold. Her boots were wet. Her heart burned with the desire to understand. For a resolution. To be good enough to know Michaela, to be worthy enough to speak the language of her perfectly guarded heart, and even more impassable mind.

Summary
Michaela had prepared for the meeting and felt confident it would go without a hitch. Lord Spencer was a respectable man and a good business partner. What she did not prepare for was the sudden sensation of cold hands on her ankles beneath the desk.
Michaela's entire body went rigid. Her eyes flew downward, though the desk's prevented her from seeing what she already knew with absolute certainty. Francesca had not left the office at all. She had hidden herself beneath the desk, in the shadowed space where Michaela's legs rested, and was now touching her.
"Lady Kilmartin." He bowed. "Thank you for seeing me today."
Francesca's hands were sliding up her calves now, pushing the fabric of her red dress higher with agonizing slowness. "Please, let us start."
As Spencer settled further into the chair opposite, Michaela gripped the arms of her own chair with white-knuckled force. What was Francesca thinking? This was madness. Absolute madness.
