Summary
Mike Wheeler has been an English teacher at Hawkins High for most of his adult life. It’s predictable, structured, and just interesting enough to keep him from completely losing his mind.
That is until a student hands in an assignment about Mike the Brave and Will the Wise, two fairy tale heroes who bear an uncomfortable resemblance to him and William Byers, the new — and very much not annoyingly charming — art teacher.Now the teachers lounge is unbearable, his students are suspiciously observant, and Mike has a problem. Several, actually.

Summary
Over the years, Mike’s heard plenty of stories about the prince’s aloof and prissy nature. Looking at him now, Mike can see where some of that comes from, especially in the way he’s dressed.
Despite the warm air blowing in, making the room feel thick and syrupy, William’s wearing a tight doublet. It pulls in at the waist and is covered in restrictive laces running up the back and down the sides. Only a slim band of his pale throat is left uncovered, along with his hands and his face.
But it’s that face, the soft curve of the bow of his lips, the crinkling at the corners of his eyes, that throws Mike completely because nothing about it is aloof. It stands at odds with the stiff, constricting clothing and the rumours he’s heard. Mike startles when the prince’s gaze finds him, his smile widening in greeting, perfect white teeth on display, the front two slightly more pronounced, lending him a disarming sweetness.
Instinctively, Mike takes a step forward.
The sudden scrape of metal snaps him out of it. The guards raise their swords in a cross before him, blocking his path.
Rightfully so. It doesn’t matter if the prince is pretty, Mike has to stay focused. His sister’s life might depend on it.

Summary
Mike was sick of them. Sick of their double dates, their couple's costumes, inside jokes and plans they just have to make a 'couples thing'. Sure, the six of them still hung out together all the time, but Mike and Will would always end up ostracized by default, unable to communicate with them now that they only spoke the language of love and nothing else. And that summer, at the cottage, it definitely wouldn't be any different.

It's 1993. The party goes over to Lucas's family cottage for the summer; Mike and Will get bothered by how often they're excluded from all the couples stuff their friends do, which leads them to start pretending to be dating in the most insufferable way they can come up with. They just weren't counting on it completely blurring the lines of their friendship.

Summary
For a long moment, it's quiet. Dustin's chest is heaving with the force of his words, and Will is… standing there, looking shell-shocked, with that barely disguised look of hurt that Dustin once swore he would never, ever inflict upon him.
"...so you think this is my fault?" When Will does speak, it's quiet, the words barely a whisper. Dustin's heart aches at the sound, but not enough to tamper the seeds of anger still sprouting in his chest.
"Think?" Dustin laughs mirthlessly. "Isn't it obvious? Somehow, for some reason, you're the root of everything we've been through. We've all thought it, we all know it, but nobody's been heartless enough to bring it up with you because they're all too busy coddling you instead. Tough luck, Byers, spending all this time being worried about me when you could've been taking some fucking responsibility and actually helping us put a stop to what you started."

“I wonder.. I wonder If I had stopped her, would Eleven have survived? Would she be here right now? Talking. Laughing. And we would have defeated that monster and all gone on with our lives.”
The worker at the counter gave him a strange look. Was he talking out loud? Whatever. He missed the party. He missed Will.
“I wonder what Will is doing right now? Is he studying art? Has he made new friends? Is he happy?”
Oddly enough, Mike felt a stray tear roll down his cheek. He wiped it away before it could go further.
“Sir. Sir!”
Mike was drawn to attention by a slightly annoyed teen standing at the counter. Upon making eye contact, the teens face faltered.
“Sir I’m... going to need you to leave.”
OR Post-s5 byler reuinte in the mental hospital, except now Will is a nurse, and Mike is a patient.
