Hannibal gets Will treated for his encephalitis, and they grow closer in Will's recovery than they ever were before.
The maybe hallucination keeps Will up at night, and he learns that the feelings he has for Hannibal might not be platonic after all.

Hannibal realized a fraction too late what the profiler meant to do. As they pitched over the cliffside, his heart shattered apart, hurling itself out into the skies. Broken, bleeding, he did the only thing that still mattered to him; he pulled the profiler to him. He finally felt alive, even as they plunged towards the dark and frozen deep of the waters below.
It was in midair that their lips met for the first time, their breath and warmth shared as the ocean came ever nearer. The kiss tasted of salt and blood; hate and anger; elation and redemption. It was purifying; all encompassing. As they hit the black abyss, they clung to one another as tightly as their wounds and the shock would allow. Even as death tried to drag them down, they unknowingly shared a last thought, borne away in the crushing strength of the tides that carried them swiftly towards land.
Hannibal still dreams of his time in the ocean with Will. His lover is the only thing that can take away the sting of his memories of their lives before the fall.
