The two of you shift among a dozen topics of conversation as you walk along; you were currently in the middle of an intense discussion of what was the best John Hughes movie to have graced the big screen. John stops his passionate ramblings on the comedic glory that was Uncle Buck when his gaze rests on a child. They couldn’t have been older than three years old, wandering the void between the outskirts of the playground and a river of passing strangers. All alone and far from the sights of parents on benches.
“Nobody’s got their eyes on him.” John mutters, disappointed with a simmer of heat nipping under the words. You nudge his shoulder with yours and fall into step alongside him.
“We do now.”
