“I hoped.” Ralph smiled at the back of Laurie’s head. “I might be a sailor, but I wasn’t going to leave it up to fate. Not this. Besides,” he said, taking Laurie’s wrist, for they were alone now, “fortune favours the brave.” He prompted Laurie closer to himself, his arm encircling his waist. Laurie relaxed and bent his body towards him, almost imperceptibly, like a tree orienting itself in the direction of the sun.

2 ½. Alec says no muscles in fingers, so no muscle loss. Joke I think. Laughed but, didn’t cheer me up. Interesting, though.
Pain at worst when trying to sleep. In head too, can hear it all. I know why they scream, now. No peace at night, got into habit of napping, will get out of it once back to normal. Doctor says, two or three weeks.
Lost ship, all other diaries, independence. Found him. Will write, I think. No promises.
