One year after The Incident, Basil burns another iteration of his suicide note to ash and sits in silence with the personification of his guilt. Everything seems idyllic: the flowers outside his house are in full bloom, he's making an effort to socialise with other locals, and all his friends are getting along with everyone but him. Something has been at the back of his mind for ages, and almost everyone is happy.
There's so many things to say, so much healing to do, and so much Basil doesn't know about himself, but there's just thirty-one days left.
