One moment Drift was lounging in light recharge, vents slow as he lay tangled against his lover’s frame, yet the next he was gasping, sitting upright as his claws dug deep into the berth below. The episode had come out of nowhere this time. No buildup of triggers overtime, no subtle hints during his wake. Just Deadlock.

Summary
Ratchet had saved him once. Had reached for him when he was bleeding out, physically and mentally, in Dead End, when he had been nothing more than a parasite, a failure, with no purpose left to cling to. Drift had loved him for it, had loved him ever since that moment, even when he hadn’t known what to call it yet.
But that was the problem, wasn’t it? Ratchet had saved him, and what had he given in return? What could he give, when all he had was the guilt of his past strewn across his shoulders.
