Summary
Love is simple. It can happen quickly or slowly, with strangers or friends, can be messy or easy, but it is as simple as breathing, as simple as hearing your name called, somewhere deep within, and your feet carrying you onwards; as simple as an arrow and a bow, and the pulling of a string.
Love is good. Love is easy. And love is not frustrating.
You know who is frustrating? Keith Kogane. What the fuck.
Sure, fine. He found him kind of annoying back when he first met him, but he’s gotten over all of that animosity already. Keith is a good friend by now, even if he enjoys pulling on his metaphorical pigtails from time to time. But the guy is difficult. Wall after wall, after wall, and he gives you a spoon and tells you, “Good luck getting through the brick and cement, I spent years putting those up,” and Lance never turns down a challenge.
So he feels knowledgeable about Keith Kogane's emotional barriers. Yet Keith, at his core, at heart, is a tangle of contradictions he might not even be fully aware of.
So, please, someone, tell him why in the world is Lance tasked with the impossible feat of making the guy fall in love with someone?

And then their lips were on each other, ruthless in their meeting, teeth and tongues clashing in a kiss that was a battle in its own right, a clash of epic proportions.

This was no way to carry on. He either had to approach the man, or give up. Probably the latter, since there was no way Zhongli even spared him a passing thought.
He grabbed the Aranara plushie that Teucer had given him when he went away to school from where it was placed face down on his bed. He turned the little green spirit around, and looked at its face.
“I just wish I knew what was going through his mind.” He said, out loud, to a fucking plushie.
And as he made his way out of the room, he didn't see the little plushie softly beginning to glow.
...
Or: Thanks to the magic of the forest spirits, Ajax magically gains the ability to read Zhongli's mind. Shenanigans ensue.

He is called Druk.
It is something he learns, in the stretching of days, as he learns the basics in how to move, and eat, and ask for things.
And the pretty thing is Zuko, with golden eyes, and black silk hair, and comfy pockets for Druk to nap in. Zuko is strong, and beautiful, and perfect, and has odd patches of red-pink scales on his face and chest, and Druk thinks he must be part dragon.
His theory is confirmed when Zuko lays with him one day on the stone floor, and inhales deeply before blowing out a tiny gout of fire in front of them. It brightens for the briefest of moments before he stops, turning towards Druk with an expectant look. “Now you try.”
Or: Druk is determined to get his dad a boyfriend (companion piece to "how to survive your hot best friend")
