Summary
After putting it off for so many years, waiting for a sign from the alpha Ed truly wants, Ed's Chase day is here. Even if it can't be Roy, his father's health is declining and Ed needs a mate to help him rule Xerxes. The invitations for each alpha suitor are sent, and preparations are complete. He will be mated by dawn, to whoever can manage to catch him.
Roy thumbs at the fine paper inviting him as a suitor to hunt Edward down and force him into submission. He wants Edward, but he doesn't want this. He wanted to court Ed properly, the way Chris taught him. Not participate in some barbaric tradition. But he must if he wants to be Ed's alpha.

Summary
Edward Elric has a system, and it works. He doesn’t need anyone’s help navigating the world, he’s been doing it on his own terms since he was four years old and he’s gotten pretty good at it. He certainly does not need help from the annoyingly tall political science senior he keeps running into on campus.
Roy Mustang, for his part, keeps showing up.

Summary
“The Mating Safety Law, or Law n. 9 of 1663, stated that all Omega soldiers must be mated or otherwise, discharged from military service.” – Falman quoted from memory, looking worriedly at their General.
“The law also states any possible high-ranking unmated Omega must be mated to another member of the military for security reasons. And the last complementary law before The Mating Safety Law was revoked in 1800 due the progress achieved by pro-Omega movements, Complementary Law n. 62 of 1723 to be exact, states also that unmated Omega alchemists must be mated with an Alpha due to the high risks the career offers, the unique bond both designations tend to develop and the direct impact on an Omega’s health and recovery time, in case of incidents.”
The Brigadier-General said in an unsettlingly mild tone, every word perfectly enunciated and paused.
“If not able to secure a suitable bondmate by themselves, the Omega have the choice of being discharged or submitted to a Public Claiming, where any suitable Alpha can compete for the right of claiming them.”

Summary
Roy was just a day or two out from his rut and he was absolutely miserable.
Hawkeye had taken one look at him in the morning and then sent him back home, telling him that she wasn’t going to put up with his shit until his rut was done. She gave him a handkerchief with her scent on it, the familiarity soothing, and then basically kicked him out of the office.
So, he worked from home and just wallowed in it.

A scene from "The Claiming" in Roy's perspective.
