"Izuku?"
The relief that fills him is euphoric, but peeking around the door and witnessing Ochaco standing in the eye of a paper-laundry storm with a single eyebrow raised dwindles it quickly to uncertainty.
"You wanna tell me what this is?" Ochaco asks, her innocence betrayed by the curiosity that laces her words and a smile so crooked it's near-wicked.
His mouth parts in confusion until a flurry of white and purple draws his attention, looking just beside her head to see -
A to-go cup, one that would be relatively innocuous if not for the story it tells: a unique lavender wrap cut off by a cream lid, droplets of the same shade dripping from the lip to create waves that 'ripple' at the bottom; a row of mauve boxes curved right along the edge and marked to show that it once held a triple-shot Americano with extra, extra caramel syrup…
And the logo for 'Lavender Lattes', barely legible thanks to the name 'DYNAMIGHT 🖤' scrawled across it.

Summary
And yet when their eyes meet Izuku may as well be a deer in the headlights, jade-green reflecting what colours cling to sky above with ease: a cluster of orange, explosions that crack across a storm-riddled sky and regress villainy to infancy; a spectral of colours, threads that send Izuku into a shadowed realm to connect him to lives that changed him, for better and worse. In the seconds that follow that mouth of his is quick to close, and in the blink of an eye Izuku looks… determined. Resolute.
His confession is not about the school, Katsuki realises when Izuku swallows. It's not about their friends, either, Katsuki understands when he watches those lips part again.
It's about him.

Summary
But now the buzzing in his belly isn't due to nerves or nausea - it's an eclosion of split cocoons and butterflies wings, the anticipation of what's to come and the disbelief that these things, these once impossible things, rest in his arms right here, right now: white noise, that makes the tips of his fingers numb where they gently twirl scarlet locks; fireworks, that makes his forearm buzz as a blockade of sleep-warm freckles pins it to the mattress.
Promises made and kept and yet to be fulfilled; a harried past and a hesitant present and a hopeful future.
Maybe it's okay, Katsuki thinks, to put a temporary pin in his routine if it means letting himself succumb to a bliss he's been staving off since that chimerical February evening.
Maybe it's okay, Katsuki realises, for the early bird to miss the worm if it means he can enjoy this thing he yearned for long before he was brave enough to give it a name.

Summary
Kacchan slides a very familiar letter across the table to him and asks, “What the fuck is this?”
Izuku really feels like he’s about to explode.
Because that letter is possibly the culmination of the biggest feelings he’s ever had: love, and all of it for Kacchan.
Izuku wrote it at thirteen. When he knew that his best friend since diapers would never return the feelings, but Izuku felt like they were so heavy they needed to be shared.
He wrote the letter, poured his aching, crushing tween heart out onto two and a half pages of college ruled notebook paper, and addressed it in his best calligraphy. To: Kacchan. Izuku remembers his thirteen year old self debating before adding on a little explosion sticker.
Now, at seventeen, he’s debating the pros and cons of jumping out of the nearest window.
OR: Izuku writes Katsuki a love letter. 4 years later, Katsuki receives it. Izuku is still very much in love with him, and Katsuki is very much not.
