Summary
“I get them too, you know,” Leon says, and Ada seems to visibly snap back to the present. “The nightmares.”
For the briefest of moments, Ada looks caught off-guard, like a deer in the headlights. He supposes he shouldn’t be surprised; for all the years they’ve spent together, they’ve never actually talked about it, preferring to let their bodies convey what they couldn’t find the words to describe.
Or: A restless night drives both Ada and Leon to their kitchen in search of sugary distractions.

Summary
It’s laughable, how quickly a life can be snuffed out. It only takes a fraction of a second. Ada wonders whether she might’ve blinked and missed the moment the light left his eyes. It doesn’t matter. Nothing matters anymore.
She watches snowflakes fall onto Leon’s hair, like tiny crystals woven into gold.
In death, he looks almost like a painting, ethereal and eternal.

Summary
Ada’s eyes widen.
Kneeling in the short distance between Wells and her is none other than Leon, his hair matted with blood, a litany of cuts and bruises on his arms where the fabric of his sleeve had been torn off. Leon lets out a shuddering breath, and Ada has to stop herself from doing the same.
“I don’t believe introductions are necessary,” Wells says, his voice nauseatingly chipper. “I'm quite certain you two are already well-acquainted.”
(Or: While pursuing the same lead, Ada and Leon's paths cross in the most undesirable of circumstances.)
