Morpheus was sitting at the top, feet hanging off the very edge, his coat discarded to the depths of the nothingness. His sister, the Lady Death, was looming over him. Her hand was extended in the kind way Nuala imagined she’d take her one day. It almost looked…serene. And anger flared in Nuala’s chest once more - towards him, towards herself, the world, the Kindly Ones. He had no right to leave like this while turmoil bubbled and burned inside her. He had no right to look as peaceful as he did, shoulders slouched, entirely at the mercy of the universe.
