Summary
Dennis Whitaker is almost done with his residency at PTMC. He’s matched, he’s on nights with Dr. Abbot, and he’s finally—supposedly—over his crush on Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch.
Then Robby and Abbot get punished, shifts are swapped, and suddenly Dennis is back to work under his former mentor.
Old feelings don’t stay buried for long. Especially when it turns out Robby isn’t nearly as unaffected as Dennis thought...
------------ROBBY POV------------
Because that’s how Robby feels. Like Whitaker’s about to take his king.
Fuck, take his bishop, he thinks, glancing in those blue eyes. My queen, my knights, all the king’s horses and all the king’s men, because nothing could put him back together again.
------------DENNIS POV------------
Dennis might get reprimanded afterwards, but for now Robby knew when to pick his battles. So, Dennis ignores the small shiver traveling over his back at hearing those words and concentrates instead.
“I’ll assist,” Robby says quietly, already reaching for the light. “Tell me what you need.”
Dennis exhales, just a fraction. You, I just need you. “Retract. Steady.”

Summary
Admittedly, Robby was more than just a bit prickly. But with Dennis, it wasn’t difficult to see beneath the hardened exterior that Robby had constructed after years of running the ED; skin like a scaled callus and an attitude to match. With Dennis, Robby saved a shred of that underlying kindness in the form of small smiles, a steadying hand, and a supportive word. All things Dennis wasn’t necessarily used to. It was… nice. Robby was nice.
Most of the time.
Halfway into his three-month rotation in the Pitt, Dennis takes advantage of a lull in the ED's near-constant madness to teach his chief attending, Dr. Robby, how to play a fishing minigame.

Summary
Kyrie eleison- "Lord, have mercy."
It took just a second, a moment, a blink of an eye, and—
"No one talks to my husband like that."
And Dennis's world fell apart.
(Or, pain.)

Summary
On an average day as an Emergency Medicine resident, Dennis makes a thousand decisions. Most are minor—or seem to be, at least—but some decisions, no matter how small, may be the difference between life and death.
Tag along with Dennis to see what kind of day you would have in the PTMC Emergency Department if you were calling the shots. Are you going to run a trauma, witness a friend's death, or end up on a date with the man at the center of your fantasies? There's only one way to find out.
UPDATED: Now you can avoid the Main Character Death (MCD) timelines. See notes at the end of chapters that diverge into MCD to skip them.

Summary
The last time Dennis had a conversation with Robby before the day they tumbled down a bridge together was a little over a year ago. It was minutes before dawn. The hallway light was just bright enough to illuminate the horror in the older man’s eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he said to Dennis, choking on the words and rubbing a palm over his eyes. His chest was heaving with breaths as if he'd just witnessed the end of the world instead of holding Dennis naked in his arms.
*
Or;
A year after a drunk hook-up with his attending at the end of his rotation, Dennis is back to the Pitt as a resident.
