Sam watched as Crowley's eyes, which had been fixed on his, slid downwards, and—Sam didn't think about that often. It was just one more unpleasant thing about Crowley to add to the pile, and Sam didn't know what it said about him that he'd never thought to use it to his advantage. Maybe it said something good, to other people, but Sam mostly felt stupid.
He said, "Me. I'm something you want."

Crowley is, above all else, a petty creature.
He will tell you differently. He will tell you that, above all else, he is a survivor. He is mistaken.
Crowley believes he is simple. That he wants what he wants and that, as far as he's concerned, the why doesn't matter, so long as he gets it. And, typically, he does get it. (At least for a little while.) And one can't have anything else one might want if one is not alive in the first place, after all. Therefore he should want to survive more than anything else. Obviously. Right?
