Jaw Man flicked his middle finger up at Ilya, who didn’t seem to mind, and gestured towards Shane and Hayden with raised eyebrows. “The f*** are you even doing right now, man.”
Ilya said briefly, “Orgy.”
“Uh,” said Shane, “no, that’s not—”
Ilya grinned at him. It was a mean-edged grin but something about it seemed to suggest that he was joking with Shane, rather than about him. “Oh, he speaks.”
“We’re not here for an orgy,” Shane said to Jaw Man. “We’re missionaries with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”

Summary
All year Shane had been fighting the desperate creeping desires spreading inside him, hoping they would wither and die in the airless forgotten dark of his dreams and now Rozanov, the only player at camp who might've been better at hockey than Shane, with his newly-long legs and newly-defined abs and his indifferent smirking gaze, was lying (maybe) hard above him, asking wildly inappropriate questions and claiming it was all normal and fine and good? Nonsense. If this was normal, Shane was missing way more social cues in his day-to-day life than he thought.

Summary
Shane decides he should let everyone believe he has a hook-up in every city, so it will no longer seem suspicious that he always disappears in Boston. While Shane is proud of himself for the ruse and for the ability to explore new places after away games, Ilya handles the new rumor with grace and dignity. Which is to say he suddenly feels the need to text and maybe even call Shane on his roadies to see if he can keep him occupied.

Summary
“Should call you the Ottawa Puppies,” says the Toronto centre, Svensson. As an insult it makes no sense, so Ilya ignores it, until he continues, “Hear Hollander keeps you on a short leash.”
Ilya is the captain, so if anything, he should be holding the leash. In English, you can be singular or plural, but he knows what Svensson is trying to say. He is saying Ilya Rozanov, you are Hollander’s bitch.
“Only sometimes,” Ilya replies, grinning. He wins the face off.
OR: Ilya trains himself to be a very, very good guard dog for Shane.
