Summary
Killua’s tired eyes strained against the too-white walls. The smell of antiseptic and the buzz from the fluorescent lights was threatening to give him a headache. Gon’s body was wrapped up in too many bandages and hooked up to machines and surrounded by doctors who whispered in worried voices. Killua stood on the other side of a pane of glass that felt thicker than it was. His helplessness was palpable now as it had been then.
He breathed in the realization that Gon wasn’t dead. Not yet, anyway. He would do whatever it took to prevent the nightmare playing on loop in his brain from becoming his reality. He would risk everything, face the devil himself to save Gon. He wouldn’t be useless anymore.
He knew where he had to go.
