Summary

For a moment, Glinda didn’t understand what she’d heard. The words hung in the air like smoke, shapeless and impossible.
Her throat tightened. “What did you say?”
The doctor tried again, and the hesitation in his voice was unmistakable—shame, fear, sympathy all tangled together.
“She—she was brought to our clinic unconscious. The staff recognized her from… well… from the posters. The, ah… Wanted notices.” Another swallow. “Most here only know her as the Wicked Witch.”

Wan and Pleng have reached the end of their teenage years. Soon they will be off to University. One day in the mansion, the humidity made Pleng wear a revealing summer outfit and her mother scolded her for it, saying it might make Wan uncomfortable knowing the other girl has a different anatomy. They were gonna live together soon and she has to learn to be considerate of Wan. Pleng was deeply annoyed at the thought of being responsible for someone else's "comfort" and forced to wear differently than she liked. She refused to change and even scolded Wan that day even though Wan never once complained about anything she's ever worn. Later that night, during a thunderstorm, Pleng would learn exactly how her revealing outfit affected her best friend.

"Well, that is a thrillifying story, but it's time Elphie and I take our leave. Elphie, you told me you'd help me study for Mathematicals, remember?" Galinda plastered on a tense smile, hoping she didn't look deranged.
"Oh," Elphaba considered Galinda, her brows furrowing. "I thought we were going to do that this evening."
"Well, Elphie, you know what they say," Galinda declared, already rising and snatching both of their school things like an irritated pack mule. "There's no time like the present. And would you look at that, it's presently the present, so let's go, shall we?"
A jealous Galinda is tired of Fiyero flirting with her official-unofficial girlfriend, the perfectly good and perfectly hers Elphaba Thropp. Emboldened by a very healthy dose of possession, Galinda wastes no time in reminding her Elphie to whom she belongs.
