Summary
Will listens to the door to the library swing open , but he couldn't find himself have the energy to focus on who walks through. He can hear Mrs Hill say something inaudible before a chair gets pulled out beside him. Will really didn't feel like talking at all , not after all the shit today , but he feels a boney hand nudge his shoulder.
" Byers? Is that you? " A voice chirps , irritated. Will glances up ( which he really wishes he hadn't since the book was just getting good ) , to see Mike Wheeler staring eagerly back at him.
" Um- Hi? " Will whispers , voice low. He really wishes he wasn't so damn awkward.
Mike and Him weren't friends , they never were. Will vividly could remember Mike mumble insults at him for reasons he wasn't sure of. Mike probably thought he was like Jonathan, a creep. Maybe Will could explain one day , that his brother was an amazing person , that the photos weren't his fault , and that it really was just a common situation of - wrong place , wrong time.

The pair are forced to work together to make prom the best thing a junior could ask for , even if they hate eachother with every cell in their bodies.

" Yeah, I'll miss you too . " Will whispers after 5 seconds of silence. Hopefully he isn't misreading this whole conversation and what Mike means to say is don't go , I miss you.
" Me too . " Mike slowly says as he turns to Will and pulls him in a swift hug.
The memories of earlier flood him do you know I still love you ring in his brain as he embraces Mike back. " We will still talk , right? " Mike softly mutters into Will's shoulder ." of course, Mike . "
" Good . " He sniffles.

As Will leaves, he embraces Mike once again. They both need eachother more then they realise or are willing to admit to one another.
As Will drives away, his eyes fill with tears , is he really leaving?
Yet he and Mike don't talk again after that for 4 months.
