His face, pale like a ghost. His bangs, messy, framing his face to shade his eyes in that hollow, haunting way. His eyes, as soulless as the Devil he was, and the smile he wore, not unkind, but meaning nothing: a man who looked human, acted human, moved like one too. Distinctly, like a monster wearing the skin of one to mimic to not cause concern.
“Dos-kun,” he breathes, wind sucked from his lungs. The bird in his chest peeks from its cage as Nikolai leans forward, falling to his knees. “You’re back.”

Summary
To pass time further, I shall give you a detailed recount of how my days have been. It is the sort of mundane that may one day drive me to madness. The place I am staying, a manor belonging to one Edgar Allan Poe, is well-kept, polished, and spacious. It has floors that shine from sheer disuse and lights with just enough of an antique feel… novels from head to toe of the library, but none as infuriating as your works. There are books at every corner with expensive decor. Yet the rooms feel empty, awkward still: I doubt this man has ever had real company over before.
(Or: a series of letters, addressed to a friend.)
