Summary
It’s all because of Susie’s encouragement.
Susie. The girl who insists upon being a part-time detective, apparently, trying so desperately to get them to express themselves.
They bow down to people so easily.
Inferior. That’s what they are.
The plan continues. Kris' thoughts through the duration of it.

Summary
A fragment of Kris climbing ever higher.
--
"Kris's breath hitches, the wind snatched away from their lungs as their caplet catches on a rough patch of Titan. Uselessly, they flail both arms up above their head, trying to find purchase in the wall. Their right hand bounces, a harsh impact that sends their gauntlet popping free and tumbling down into the infinite darkness below."Bookmarked by bittertear

Summary
“S'not your fault that—”
“—I hurt you,” Susie finished. She chewed on the concept, the edges of her voice frantic, her throat thick. “Because you deserved it.”
“Yes.” Kris pressed her hands against their chest. They smiled in a way that failed to be reassuring. Each desperate breath shuddering through their lungs confirmed everything Susie didn't want to know. “S’fine. It’s okay.”
Kris burned like a charred pan straight out of the oven, or an oil fire stoked by liquor. Susie reeled away. “You—you were trying to set me up,” Susie accused, trying to edge words around the chasm opening in her gut. “You were trying to get me to hit you.”
Kris wants Susie to hurt them. They need her to hurt them. Susie isn't as on board with the idea as they are.

Summary
Some say that eyes are like a window to the soul. It hadn’t ever been something that Susie had been certain of, seeing as her own were a far stretch brighter and more joyous than she herself could ever be.
But she thinks that saying may hold true for Kris.
Theirs are red. A bright, furious shade – like a lit, determined flame that’s unable to be extinguished. There’s a streak of danger within them, aside a small, devious glint – there’s layers upon layers of lived experience and endured traumas in there. Susie’s surprised she doesn’t get lost.
Susie sees Kris' eyes for the first time after months of anticipation.

Summary
A bead of sweat ran down the length of Captain Dreemurr's side, and they were suddenly very grateful for the outfit the Chief had chosen for them. A deep green sleeveless floor length gown, with a hint of sheen that gave the garment movement, with deep slits up the side of their legs. The lack of breeze made the room more stifling than ever, and Kris did not envy their partner's full suit, despite the handsome picture she presented.
