After the battle of five armies, the reader and Kíli end up sharing the weight of the crown while Fíli and Thorin heal. Upon finally getting a break, the reader seeks their beau, Thorin, who is finally awake. Thorin wonders when they started wearing royal braids - the reader asks after the victory beads in Thorin’s hair. (and they finally get a chance to give each other courting beads, too :) ) Also known as Smith plays fast and loose with nobility ranking systems, lol.
