It’s like he’s scared.
And maybe he is—the human, while taller than most species of aliens, was a scrawny thing, all long limbs and knobby knees. Wilbur’s fairly sure that, on Earth (it isn’t called Terra), Tommy fits the qualifications of being a teenager.
And so, Wilbur backs off a little. Gives Tommy more space, because the poor boy looks like he might have a heart attack every time Wilbur so much as references his work on the ship. Which sucks a little, because he loves sharing what he discovers—there’s so much to learn, and yet, Tommy is terrified.

Technoblade was a Piglin.
Philza knew this; it's doubtful that anyone else knows this. Afterall, Piglin can't survive in the Overworld. It's something to do with the sun, the air, the world itself, that makes them rot and become something... disturbing.
Although, Techno apparently never got the memo.
Neither did Ranboo.
Or; Phil has lived with Techno for a long, long time, and has become more than accustomed to his Piglin tendencies and characteristics, as he's the only one Techno trusts and subconsciously considers him to be a part of his sounder. But Ranboo is new, and although Phil understands what is going on as Techno begins to trust him, Ranboo sure as hell doesn't.

He knows—this isn’t the end, this is the moment of peace, the quiet refrain, this is when the audience thinks everything will be okay and everyone will live happily ever after, this is the single breath before the grand finale and everyone dies as the curtain closes.
Tommy breathes, counting each one out, counting each heartbeat, counting the seconds as they slip through his fingers. He doesn’t have the luxury to do anything else.

Tommy is waiting for him, depending on him. He’s just a baby, way too little to leave the burrow, so he needs Wilbur to make it back, to escape the hound and bring the food home. So Wilbur runs even though it hurts like a wildfire climbed inside of his skin and lungs.
He runs and then he sees a hole at the base of a magnificent oak tree—too small for the huge dog to fit into, but more than big enough for Wilbur. His feet skid on leaf litter as he makes a sharp change of course, but he doesn’t fall.
With snapping jaws at his back, down the hole he tumbles.

“You can be the bard,” Tommy says, something excited just barely blooming in his voice.
Wilbur smiles into golden ringlets and tries not to cry. “And you’ll be the knight, Toms. The bravest the land has ever seen.”

Summary
The afternoon drifts by and he spends it sharing his prizes from the garden with Henry and pulling down the best pecan leaves for her when they run out of veggies. He runs around and plays in the creek while Henry snorts and moos from her spot in the shade. Hours slip past and by the time the sky darkens and Tommy is full from his apple and his sandwich, he finds himself dozing off against Henry’s warm belly.
He doesn’t know how much time passes when he wakes to a blinding light glaring down from the pitch dark sky above them. Tommy’s ears feel like he’s sitting at the bottom of the deep end of a pool and he thinks about the angel who scared all the shepherds when baby Jesus was born. His heart is thrumming and pounding and he’s waiting for a voice to tell him not to be afraid, but it never ever comes.
Henry makes a distressed noise and Tommy sucks in a breath to scream when everything goes white and then there’s suddenly nothing at all.

Summary
Not that it really truly is home—not that any place could be or has been home in years. In what feels like it must be a lifetime, must be so long that Wilbur and the world have been irrevocably changed, that they both must be wholly unrecognizable. Or, at least, Wilbur must be.
He thinks he must be because the voice is horribly, painfully familiar. It’s familiar—it carves him open and turns him inside out as he grips a little plastic container of those cheerio snacks so tightly his fingers have gone white. His eyes meet those of the Gerber Baby and he feels its judgment as he tries not to be sick. Home rings out across the little store and Wilbur closes his eyes and does not look at the round mirror he’s sure the man would be visible in. Wilbur’s home is about four aisles over talking to a bored cashier, but Wilbur set that home on fire, Wilbur burned it to the ground years ago.
The cheerio snacks go back on the shelf and Wilbur ducks his head as he rushes out of the store.

Technoblade had been living a peaceful life in retirement with the occasional visit from his dear friend, had been all he had ever truly wanted after years fighting in tournaments that left him feeling drained. He would have been perfectly content with that lifestyle until the day that he passed away, though life had other plans for him.
Because the wildlife around his property are acting odd while the forest seems to move around unnaturally, the man left feeling as if he is constantly being watched by forces outside of mortal comprehension. Those feelings only amplified as he begins to spot a child-like figure wearing a mask that sent shivers down his spine watching him from the forest's edge.

“Fucking—let—me—go!” he snarls, wrapping both hands around the length of the rope, painfully aware of the laughter ringing through the trees; the sounds of feet crashing through bracken; and Tommy—he doesn’t understand why the rope isn’t burning, why the frayed strands aren’t catching—it’s just a length of rope used for hunting, its not important enough to be enchanted, no one would waste coin enchanting rope to make it fireproof when it’s only use is to be part of a snare and nothing more.
The voices are getting louder and Tommy is running out of time.
There’s a trail of smoke where something just barely catches alight and Tommy doesn’t bother with a cry of victory—not when he’s not free, not when he’s still suspended up in the air, dangling by his foot, trying to burn through his shoe so that he can gain favour towards escape or free his knife—“Oh my god Techno, your snare caught a child!”
Or: Tommy is running from his past, and finds family along the way.

So, when the three supervillains he'd been assigned to bring in managed to take Tubbo hostage, well, there was really only one thing to do.
He knew, of course, he was signing himself up for torture and death by offering that trade, but that was okay.

The fae was tall. Much taller than Tommy, and probably anyone else in the village for that matter. Hair the color of dark oak spilled over his forehead in tumbling curls. Flecks of gold dotted his cheeks like freckles, sitting underneath a pair of knowing eyes that seemed to flash between shades of earth and honey. His tall frame was draped in the most expensive-looking clothes Tommy had ever seen—flowing fabric in shades of snow and sunlight billowed in the light breeze. And there was so much jewelry. Gold bands decorated his arms, dangling gems decorated his pointed ears, and a shimmering gold circlet rested on his forehead.
Past the beauty though, there was danger. His nails were pointed, his teeth too sharp. When Tommy tried to look him in the eyes, his head grew fuzzy, as if perceiving the fae directly wasn’t something he was supposed to attempt.
He was smiling as he looked over Tommy.
“Are you lost?” He asked in that same lyrical voice.

This can’t be happening.
The ring didn’t fit him less than a minute ago, and now it’s stuck. It’s stuck and Tommy’s wearing a big ‘I stole something and I'm a fucking idiot’ sign on his hand. Forget the guards, it’s expensive enough that if someone sees him wearing it he’s dead. He doubts many people would stop at just trying to pull it off of him.
He pinches himself. It hurts. This is not a nightmare. Not in the literal sense at least- it’s definitely a metaphorical nightmare. Tommy’s worst nightmare, specifically.
This is the worst day.

“Uh— Phil?” The man calls over his shoulder, golden eyes never leaving Tommy’s face, “I need your help over here.”
Tommy bares his teeth, wings fluttering threateningly. He doesn’t want the man to get help, he wants him to go away.
Another man steps into view. This one is short and blonde, with wings a hundred times bigger than Tommy’s, and he’s dressed just as nice as the first man. He hasn’t seen Tommy yet; he’s looking at the big pink one. Mouth open like he’s going to speak.
Tommy hisses again, louder this time. And the man's head snaps towards him— which doesn’t scare Tommy. He doesn’t shrink back, doesn’t try to tuck away his wings with a whine. Because he’s big. He’s big and scary; nothing is scarier than him and he knows it, because he says it.
“Oh,” The man says softly, expression falling at his eyes dart across Tommy’s face. “Oh, mate.”
