Summary
Will swallows and raises the rifle, praying to whatever is listening that the click of the flashlight isn’t as loud as he thinks. There’s definitely metal, reflection blinding him temporarily. He strains to see past the bright gleam in the chipped plates, but can only make out a mop of black hair, down to the shoulders at least. Will squints, body subconsciously leaning in closer, then jumps back, rifle aimed to its center of mass as the creature — humanoid, tall, metallic — rises to its full height.
Then disjointedly stumbles, into Will.
Will’s scream is caught in his throat when he hears a gasped, “William…” through the rushing of wind, and if he were anyone but Will Byers, he might not have caught the whisper of the voice that haunts him.
“Mike?!”
or
A thunderstorm unceremoniously dumps a paladin on Will Byers's front lawn. The problem? He's wearing Will's best friend's face.

"Max," Lucas warns. "You have that look in your eye again."
"What look?"
Dustin leans forward, eyes gleaming with potential. "You have an idea."
"No. Really?" Max shakes her head, but the smile spreading across her face says otherwise.
El gasps, and Max could melt from the sun that beams from the light in her chocolatey brown eyes. "You do! You have an idea!"

Summary
“Will?”
Will opens his eyes at his own name, choked on like it was sacred. How did this guy know who he was? That’s unsettling.
His eyes narrow as he gives the man before him a once-over while he adjusts to the light. Glasses, a huge coat that practically swallows him, dripping rainwater onto Will’s second-hand welcome mat, hand frozen and raised as if he were going to knock again. Will redirects back up to his face, and a pang of recognition strikes him through the chest.
It’s 11:38 p.m., Will has a pile of coursework to finish before 7 a.m. tomorrow, and Mike Wheeler is on his doorstep.

After two years of silence, Mike Wheeler drops himself on Will Byers' welcome mat. -

And, just like that, you could hear a pin drop.
Every body slowly turns to face Mike Wheeler. Not a breath could be heard, as though the world stopped revolving the second the words left his mouth.

"Sorry, man," Lucas says, shrugging. He stands from his spot on the floor to come to Max's side. "But it was getting bad. You've been weird since Stacey's party."
Or: Mike and Will refuse to admit what happened last Friday, and the Party has the perfect solution. 24 hours handcuffed to your best friend shouldn't be so bad, should it?

"Mike, come on," Will says, his smile still mid-bloom. "You don't think that's a little weird?"
"No," Mike says simply. "Why would that be weird?"
"Because I'm—" Will gestures vaguely to himself. "Gay. And you're…"
Will trails off, stopping himself, as if it just occurred to him that he could be wrong about the way he planned to answer that sentence. Mike isn't sure how he'd answer it either.
High, he thinks. Will is gay and I am high.

“Come on,” Mike argues. “Think of it like… a test drive. You’ll get the full Mike Wheeler boyfriend experience. It’s miserable! You’ll be over me in no time!”
They only have one last summer before they go off to college, and Will is sick of keeping his cards so close to his chest. So, in a fit of alcohol-induced bravery, he tells Mike everything.
Instead of breaking his heart, Mike proposes a deal: they’ll date for the summer. Get Mike out of Will’s system, show him he makes for a lousy boyfriend anyway, and make sure there aren’t any what-ifs waiting for him in New York.
No stone left unturned, after all.
Or: Summer brings clouds, nostalgia, and the all-consuming fear of change. They deal with it.

Mike hates Valentine’s Day. It was fun as kids, when teachers would make every student decorate a little shoe box with pink and red heart stickers, that by the end of the day would be filled with cheesy Valentines and sweets.
But this isn’t kindergarten anymore— there are no school-enforced rules that his classmates have to give him a Valentine. He has to earn them. And he hasn’t.

Mike is (not) upset that he’s the only one of his friends that hasn’t received a Valentine. That is, until something just so happens to fall out of his locker the next day.
