“Ahem… Do you two know each other?” Shi Qingxuan moved their head to catch Xie Lian’s gaze. The smile plastered across their face was matched with a raised eyebrow from He Xuan as well. Xie Lian could feel the burning in his face now.

“That’s a good question. Do we know each other, gege?" Hua Cheng slid into the opening in the booth until he was thigh-to-thigh with Xie Lian. He moved smoothly to rest his cheek in his hand while maintaining an innocent expression on his face. His voice was anything but innocent in Xie Lian’s ears. He could hear how slyness lowered the timbre of his voice. The familiar tone made a smile spread on Xie Lian’s face.
“I would say we do know each other, San Lang.”

“Holy shit, dude,” Hayden whispers, too loudly, as he pulls Shane away. “No way you were just talking to Ilya Rozanov.”
“Uh, yeah. We just met. Wait, did he lie to me?” Shane asks, looking back over his shoulder where Ilya is now standing next to a short but very muscular woman with long black hair. “What does he play?”
Hayden stops, so Shane does too.
“You don’t know who that was?”
Shane makes a face that says ‘no shit’, and waits for an answer.
“Dude. You are so innocent. Ilya Rozanov, ‘Russia’s Greatest Love Machine’?” Hayden says, like it’s obvious.
Shane looks at him blankly, and then Hayden laughs. Not like, a chuckle. He full on cackles, bending over like he can’t even contain it. “Man, he’s like prolific.”
“At what?” Shane snaps, because he’s getting really sick of not being in on the joke.
“He’s a porn star, man.”
“A-” Shane says, swallowing thickly. “What?”

In the center of it all is a man…
A man who is scrambling around a small convection oven on the counter, trying to scrape out the blackened remains of what Hua Cheng assumes were once cookies. He appears to be in his early thirties and, despite his frantic movements and creased expression, the first word that comes to Hua Cheng’s mind is: soft.
His hair, a beautiful, earthy chestnut brown color, is pulled back into a loose bun on the top of his head. A few strands hang free, framing his face. He wears cuffed jeans and a cream-colored turtle-neck sweater that swamps his frame and falls down to his thighs, giving him a cozy, shapeless figure.
or: Hua Cheng is a famous muralist who is losing his passion for art when he meets Xie Lian, single father to five-year old Guzi. Xie Lian is in the midst of opening a flower shop and Hua Cheng, instantly captivated by this man with warm eyes and a soft nature, offers to help.
