She eventually comes to adopt their ways, to some extent, and is made a Khan after defeating Shan Yu, who becomes her second in command. The next year, they ride on China together, and no empire, no wall, no army stands before them.

How much a person's soul can change in a short period of time, how much pain a woman must endure before she gives up, how much a child must obey her parents, when honour ceased to be important to me....
I was raised with the idea that a woman should stay at home, bring honour to her family through an advantageous marriage and later through sons to make her family proud, but that was not for me, my soul screamed at me for years to release the wild and untamed woman I locked away when I was old enough to understand that I should not be that woman, for a long time I thought I could only bring honour to my family by marrying.... but that changed the day the Huns broke through the wall and the Emperor asked every family man to fight in his war.
I made my decision accepting whatever consequences it had...I never expected to be kneeling in front of the terror of China in person Shan Yu.

For the past six months, it's been good. It's been great. It's been fucking amazing, actually, even with dealing with the press, even with hiding his night job, because he'd trade close to anything for the date nights at fancy restaurants and the cuddling (cuddling! actually cuddling!) during movie nights and sometimes, when it's early, just before Bruce leaves, and they're curled together in the darkness, and Bruce just talks, Clark just listens, and it feels like maybe the jagged piece of cracked stone in his chest that Bruce calls a heart might actually be worth something, for once. And oh yeah, the sex is incredible, but watching Clark interact with his kids, even with how infrequently it happens by necessity? That's better than anything that could happen in bed.
And now— But now— There's Clark. Gorgeous, intelligent, caring, loving and lovely Clark Kent standing in the center of the room, face hopeful, glasses held in his hands as he shares his biggest secret with Bruce.
Bruce freezes.

“What about you?” Clark asked, his fingers stopping momentarily in their idle tracing of Bruce’s mosaic of scars. Bruce could feel those impossibly blue eyes staring at him, and he lifted his head slightly to meet his gaze.
Bruce blinked once. And then again, realising he had no idea what was being asked of him. He mumbled out a tired “…what about me?” when his brain has managed to connect to his mouth long enough to get the words out and tried not to shy away from the inexplicably adoring look sent his way in response.
“When did you realise you liked me as more than a… coworker? a friend?” He supplied, his fingers resuming their previous task, the man clearly unable to stay still for longer than a few minutes at a time. Bruce would envy his seemingly endless energy if it wasn’t currently standing in the way of his date with at least six hours of consecutive sleep.
OR: Clark asks Bruce when he fell in love with him, Bruce reminisces on the memory while considering how far he had come since.
