“Lance.”
“I believe you mean ’Sir Lance,’” Lance serenely replies, not turning to acknowledge who just walked into his tent. His squire is still fastening his armor, after all; no point hindering her progress just for the charade of civility that neither one of them mean anyway.
“And I believe you should be addressing me as ‘Your Highness,’” comes the retort, rather unexpectedly. Lance usually gets away with his little mockeries. Perhaps today isn’t the day to push things.
Not that that will really stop Lance from trying. He turns his head just enough to spare a cool glance over his shoulder. “Courtesy begets courtesy.”
Prince Keith’s jaw visibly twitches as he grinds his teeth. “Sir Lance.”

The king arranges a tourney. The prize: the prince’s hand in marriage.
Sir Lance has no intention of claiming the grand prize and enters solely to irritate Prince Keith. Things don’t quite go according to plan, though.

Summary
“Goddamn earrings,” Keith mutters. He looks down at Kosmo, who is half asleep on a coil of rope. “They’re probably stolen. That’s what pirates do, right? Steal jewelry.”
Kosmo thumps their tail and makes a grf sound. Keith takes this as agreement.
“I bet he did this on purpose,” he says next, looking at Lance again. “He’s been saving them this whole time just to—just to taunt me.”
Kosmo grfs again.

Summary
Ink black hair contrasted against the pureness that surrounded them, the ends damp from the weather. Lance pulled the unconscious figure into his arms, revealing the face of his lover. Keith had a peaceful expression gracing his features, water droplets sticking to his eye lashes. His cheeks were flushed red from the cold, Lance could hear the blood beneath his skin flowing to provide what little warmth Keith could provide. His heartbeat taunted Lance like a timer, each tick becoming slower, one after the other.

Summary
The whole scene was the opposite of what Lance wanted. He stood soaked in the rain, red splattered across his favorite winter flannel, his mouth dripping the same sickly substance. His fangs had already retracted, the tears in his lips being the only evidence that they were there in the first place. Nevertheless, Keith watched him with the same curiosity and love that he did the first time they met.
