Summary
It had been a long time since Penelope had received an invitation from any of the noble girls her age. The latter had long written her off as a crazy, vulgar brat, ever since duke Eckhart had brought her into social circles, and Penelope was thus excluded from any significant event that she might have attended otherwise. The young woman's surprise was therefore imaginable when she received an unexpected invitation, asking her to attend a tea party hosted by one of those very peers of hers.

Ijekiel threw a final glance at the pursuing ship.
For a brief moment, a flash of billowing golden hair caught his eye, and he thought he saw a woman standing on the upper deck, feet planted firmly on the rail, hand gripping one of the ropes of the sails. Then, just as quickly, the prince lost sight of her as a particularly large wave crashed against the side of the ship, spraying salt water into the air.
When he tried to find the woman again, she was nowhere to be found.
