“Without us? We would have gone with you.”
“I wanted to go alone. I needed to talk to him.” Sirius pulled his robes around him tightly against the cold, damp air.
“About what? Wasn’t he asleep?”
“Yeah, he was for a while. That’s why I was gone so long because Poppy wouldn’t let me in until he woke up.”
“What was so important that you couldn’t wait until he got out of the infirmary?”
Sirius paused again. James nudged him with his elbow to encourage him to continue. “I saw his mark.”
James stopped walking. “Oh?”
“It’s the same as mine.”Sirius and Remus decide to take it slow after finding out they are soulmates at 15, so as not to muck everything up with their teenage hormone-addled brains before they even finish school. It’s admirable, really, the amount of restraint they have. Enter heartbreak, espionage, and so, so much yearning.

Uriel calling Aziraphale a 'bit of a Fallen Angel' makes him Fall for real, but it's not all at once, it's gradual enough that he doesn't realize what's happening until it's too late.
When he's in Heaven, the floor stings and he feels sick, but he thinks maybe it's because he's been on Earth so long that he's just having trouble adjusting. He is able to possess Tracey, but he just figures it's luck.
There's still enough Grace left in him to survive the Holy Water, but it still hurts worse than anything he's ever felt in his life, and his screams reverberate through Hell. He's left with a long, twisting scar on his - on Crowley's - back.
When he goes back into his own body, the last vestige of Holiness causes him to go into spasms, and the pain is so intense that he can't scream. Crowley knows what's happening and is helpless to stop it.
Aziraphale finally Falls completely, and apart from knowing who Crowley is, his memories of the last six thousand years...are gone.
