Summary
When Dan gets overwhelmed, he runs away. This is a fact of life that he has learned to accept and adapt around by now.
Being a well-known mental health ambassador really only amplifies his need to make quick escapes sometimes. Like right now, for example. He hadn't expected the Chelsea Flower Show to be so overwhelming — normally he's able to blend into the background at press events like this and only do a couple of interviews, but five different reporters have flagged him down already. So, he absconded after the most recent one, fleeing into a less populated exhibit.
Surprisingly, the Lovehoney exhibit isn't empty when he gets to the threshold of it; YouTube sensation Phil Lester is in there looking harried, with his hair mussed and his skin flushed red. He has a wild kind of look in his eyes when he looks over at Dan.

Summary
The Golden Pig is a nice enough ship; it's not one of those huge cruise liners that hold thousands of people, but it's smaller and more intimate and Dan actually feels like he has made more connections on this trip than he would have on the more typical Royal Caribbean cruise he usually works on.
And yet, despite being friendlier with his fellow crew members on this voyage, Dan can't help but sequester himself to a corner during the post-cruise after party for the crew now that all of the passengers have disembarked. He's feeling a little shy, and maybe a little uncharacteristically bummed at the end of his contract, and instead of taking advantage of his last night on the boat, he's moping and nursing his third drink by himself.
