I planned for this to be a random, plotless interlude to keep the writing muscles going while I finish further chapters of my other WIP works but it seems to have grown smutty little legs and taken off...so thought I may as well post it up here for others to enjoy if they wish!

Not quite an AU, but certainly another canon mix up!
We bring things forward to the current era of the true crime podcast boom. Will Graham - in between leaving the force and considering a more permanent offer to take up teaching, throws his considerable energy and talent into a true crime podcast with a passionate cult following after this first season on the Minnesota Shrike. His colleague and friend Alana Bloom worries he's falling into dangerous old patterns of 'getting too close' but season two already has him gripped in a fever of research and revelations, now hot on the trail of the newest killer on the block - the Chesapeake Ripper.
Unfortunately for Will, this comes to Hannibal Lecter's attention who finds himself both fascinated and irritated by the rude but brilliant profiler broadcasting his extraordinary insights to any anonymous ear who wishes to hear it. What is to be done about that...

Perhaps an ambitious crossover (which will really only make a lick of sense to those who have heard some of WTNV...warning in advance!) but I have read a few really wonderful Hannibal/WTNV crossovers out there in the fandom so couldn't resist giving it a go too! I have so very much love for both of these worlds/characters

These few lines from the end of 'Hannibal' (book) always set me wondering how exactly that played out, how did Clarice come to terms with the news, was Hannibal worried she wouldn't return after that day of walking alone?A short imagining of one of the many unseen moments in that huge, wonderful book.
(Or, more simply put, I'm not sure anyone is still re-reading and overthinking the books as much as I am but on the off chance this fits anyone's interests, allow me to provide what I think happened off page...)

Summary
“You knew I wouldn’t be here, Hannibal. Why did you come?”
“This was the last place that I saw you. I saw it fitting for a goodbye.” Hannibal replies flatly. “I am prone to feelings of sentimentality from time to time.”
The statement is so open and raw that it feels like a (second) stab to the gut and knocks the wind out of Will’s lungs.
“Why did you come here, Will?” He asks.
Will bites at his lip. He could lie. He could tell Hannibal that he’s on a favor for Jack, but deep down he knows he won’t. They’ve lied to each other so many times and now Hannibal is being open, and Will won’t sour that by lying. “I came here because… because I knew that you would.”

The night before Will's wedding, Hannibal breaks out of prison. Will travels to Wolf Trap one last time just to say goodbye. Or at least, that's the plan.- Language:
