Summary
He turns to leave then, knowing all that can help Rooster now is sleep, but a faint tug on his sleeve makes him pause. He glances back to see Bradley’s fingers loosely gripping the fabric, his eyes half-closed, barely conscious but still clinging to the moment.
“Thanks… Jake,” Bradley mumbles, his words barely audible.
Jake’s chest tightens, and he can’t quite explain why. He pulls Bradley’s hand away gently, setting it back on the bed before he straightens up.
“Get some sleep, Bradley,” Jake mutters, flicking off the light. “Let’s hope you don’t remember any of this in the morning.” That part is mostly just for himself.
As he leaves the room, he can’t shake the feeling that something has shifted between them. Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the late hour, but Jake feels like there’s more between them than what they have in the air.
or 5 times Jake takes care of Bradley when he's sick, and the one time Bradley takes care of Jake.

Summary
“Fuck, marry, kill: Benji McCoy, Graham Donahue, and… me.”
Art wishes he hadn’t turned bright red almost immediately, but he’ll blame it on the alcohol heating up his cheeks. “Patrick-“ he says almost instantly, using the kind of voice he uses to tell off the other boy frequently. When he laughs, Art lazily lifts his leg and pushes it into Patrick’s knee.
“That’s not even fair, that’s all, dudes.” He continues to complain, hoping the more he talks, the less obvious it will be how flustered he has become.
Patrick, of course, just rolls his eyes, takes a hit of the joint, and washes it down with the last of his beer. “It’s just a game, Art. I’m not going to force you to suck anyone’s dick.”

Summary
“You’re a natural,” Eddie smiles, having watched the whole thing with amusement. They both know this isn’t his first kid, but it is his first baby, and Eddie already can’t believe how natural it seems for him.
“What, I didn’t tell you?” Buck asks, a teasing smile coming onto his lips as he rounds the bed to Eddie. “I’m a certified baby whisper.”
“Really?” Eddie can’t help but laugh. Buck makes it to Eddie’s side and holds out a hand to Eddie, so he can grab onto it while he slowly moves to swing his legs over the edge of the bed. “Can I see this certification?”
This time, Buck laughs. “Oh. You know what I must have left it—“ He shrugs, pretending to check his pockets and coming up empty. Eddie thinks that the man in front of him is such an idiot, he just has to kiss him for it.

Summary
“But Denny says that doesn’t matter because he was adopted and Hen and Karen are still his moms.” Chris shoots back.
While Eddie is incredibly proud of the kid he’s raising, it’s making it a lot harder to have this conversation. “You’re right, you don’t have to be blood-related to be family,” he concedes because he definitely doesn’t want to teach Chris the opposite when most of his own family isn’t even blood-related. This whole conversation is just making his head spin.
“So then why can’t Buck be my dad?”
And really, Eddie doesn’t have an answer to that, because there’s not a single reason he can’t be. If he wants to be, that is.
