Summary
Buck reaches up to remove the hat Eddie put on him before, but Eddie’s hand shoots up with inhuman speed, wrapping around his wrist to stop him.
“Nu-uh,” he says, lowering Buck’s arm. “The hat stays on.”
Buck chuckles, a little breathless.
“Damn, Eddie, do you have a cowboy kink I didn’t know about?”
In response, Eddie only huffs, rolling his eyes with a playful smile tugging at his lips as he slides his hands down Buck’s chest to his stomach, the touch so light it tickles. And then Eddie’s hands go lower, lean fingers grabbing at his belt.
Or, the mechanical bull isn’t the only thing getting ridden in Nashville.

Summary
Eddie stood up, trying and failing to speak when his eyes locked with Buck’s. As it turned out, he didn’t really need to say anything at all: Buck was at his side in a moment, pale blue eyes filled with worry as he scanned Eddie’s face.
“Buck, I—” Eddie tried, but he found he didn’t even know where to start, or how to explain. Explain that it was his fault, yet again, that Chris was gone.
Or, Chris is missing, Eddie is on the brink of a panic attack, and Buck is there to have his back. Obviously.

Summary
Eddie blindly reaches behind himself, trying to grab a pillow to put under his hips to give Buck a better angle, when suddenly Buck’s hand goes still on his waist, his head lifting from where it had been buried between his legs.
"Not— not that one," he pants, lips parted and glistening with spit and precum. His blue eyes have that wild glint they always get when he's sucking him off, pupils blown wide, cheeks flushed a delicious shade of pink that perfectly matches his birthmark.
"What?" Eddie murmurs, a little out of breath.
Or, Buck cares a lot about his curls and Eddie is a little shit about it.

Summary
“Wow,” Buck murmurs after a moment of stunned silence. “I can’t believe you’re here. You know, I was just…” He hiccups. “I was just talking about you.”
“You were?”
“Yeah…”
Eddie furrows his eyebrows. “Weren’t you just… at a speed dating event?”
“Oh, yeah,” Buck slumps even further on the table. “That did not… go well.”
“I’m sorry, bud.”
Sure you are, Ravi thinks, shaking his head.
Or, Ravi is tired of being stuck in the middle of Buck and Eddie’s pining, so he decides to take matters into his own hands. Hence, the speed dating scheme.

Summary
"There are some… other things we could be doing on a Sunday morning," Buck teases, eyes staring longingly at Eddie's lips, voice but a whisper on Eddie's mouth.
Buck’s about to lean down to kiss him, when Eddie suddenly bursts out laughing straight in his face.
"Please, tell me you didn’t just get turned on because I agreed to go to the farmers market with you."
Or, the one where Buck and Eddie get off on domesticity.

Summary
“Did you mean it?” Eddie asks.
It’s not what he meant to say. Don’t be ridiculous is what he’d intended. It’s midnight, it’s cold, I’m tired, I don’t want you to. All scattered to the wind, too far now to reach.
Or: Buck and Eddie in the desert.

Summary
A person who listens to whatever inane, mundane shit Buck is incapable of not spouting? Actually listens, with interjected questions and regular mmhms of acknowledgement? Indulgent of every tangent, every spiel, unless Buck is actively sowing terror in the hearts of victims on calls with his worst-case scenario stories.
He has that person. Eddie. According to May, that makes Eddie his person, a thought that has a bloom of warmth unfurling in his chest.
It might not be romantic, but it’s—it’s something.
And it’s worth Buck trying to get back to who they were. When their shift is over, he follows Eddie home like he might’ve done a year ago.

Summary
He stands up, because Eddie does not cower from knocks at — he checks his phone — 10:52 PM, even though every true crime podcast his abuela forwards him suggests this is exactly how people end up as a Dateline episode.
He looks through the peephole.
He blinks.
He looks again.
There is a man on his porch. Which, fine, he expected a man. What he did not expect is for the man to be — and Eddie needs a second here, because he’s processing several things simultaneously and doing a poor job with all of them — approximately six foot two, broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted, visibly muscular in a way that suggests either a dedicated gym routine or a genetic lottery win or both, and completely, entirely, spectacularly naked.
Except for the potted succulent he's holding in front of his crotch.
Eddie's succulent. From Eddie's porch. The one Chris named Potricia.

The odds of the universe dropping a naked man on your doorstep are low, but never zero.Bookmarked by ccecily

Summary
“Wait,” the man says, reaching out and tugging on Buck’s shirt.
Buck rights himself and looks down. There’s a small tear revealing a bruise right at his ribs. He sucks in a breath when the man slips his hand under, making contact with Buck’s flank as he lifts the shirt up.
“Jesus, he got you good,” he remarks before dropping the ice pack into the bucket. He continues pulling Buck’s shirt up, big brown eyes flicking up and down. Buck huffs and takes it off completely, swallowing when the man plants his hands on either side of Buck’s waist.
“Got you good, too,” Buck croaks, already painfully turned on. “Gonna be a shiner.”
When Buck starts a fight in a bar, a stranger comes to his rescue. Buck brings him back to his hotel to patch him up.

Summary
There’s something about the way that whole thing went down at the bar—the way Buck looked at Eddie when that woman got their attention.
Eddie wasn’t interested; he was more than happy to make it to last call with Buck and stumble back into the hotel together, maybe have another drink in one of their rooms before calling it a night, but the way Buck looked at him… Eddie knew Buck wanted Eddie to throw his hat in the ring.
First dibs sounds awful, but it's sort of true. He’s been acutely invested in Eddie’s sex life lately, but that look.
Buck wide-eyed as he gauged Eddie’s reaction, like if Eddie gave him eyes that said No, not me but not you either, that would have been it. They’d reject her together. Continue as they were.
But Eddie gave him a different look, the one that said Go for it, and then Buck did.
As if he wanted Eddie’s permission.
Eddie has an eye-opening moment at the bar in Nashville.
