“How do you like it here, Aaron?” She asked, sitting a respectful distance away from him within his room. He had been fretting over the arrangement of his bookshelf; he was running out of room. Slowly, he turned, glancing back at Dr. Arrington as if he were embarrassed.
“I l-like it fine ‘suppose.” He said softly. “I don't get lots of visitors though.” Dr. Arrington only smiled, nodding along to his reply. He still had that same drawl, only his time in isolation had dimmed it, but not entirely.
“What about the people?” She asked next. “If anyone left, would you miss them?” Aaron looked down at the floor for a few moments, mulling over the question as he picked at the skin on his thumb. When he found his answer, he raised his eyes to meet Dr. Arrington's but only for a flash.
“Everyon’ heyah is jus’ fine, but they ain't as nice as you, Miss Molly.” He said. That was all she needed to hear; the notion of his relations at the facility comforted any heartache she had about opening a new door for Aaron, one that would be monumental.- Language:
