Kitay took a deep breath.

That man-bun of yours makes you look like a child, which is funny, given that beard already makes you look like you're fifty. And, of course, your head is too big for your body. Everything about you looks like it’s misplaced.” He said it all in one breath, grinning as Souji’s eyes went wider.All Nezha could do was stare, completely dumbfounded.
He was too curious to leave, but too scared of Kitay to say something.or: Nezha learns a couple things about Rin as he’s sent to the Second Division with Kitay for their fifth year assignment and with that, he finds that he can’t ignore how drawn he is to her anymore. Now, he can only hope that his new fragile friendship with her is enough.

Summary
The girl with the lyrical, foreign name, Mai-rin-en, sniffs – a tiny, pathetic sound, the first she’d made. Her head lifts, just enough to raise her swollen, bloodshot eyes to his father, and for the first time, Nezha can make out a sign of life within the broken girl.
Her large eyes shine with emotion like a polished obsidian stone. “I want to go home.”
The loneliness of this girl is incomprehensible to six-year-old Nezha.
But when he looks at Mai’rinnen, he feels like he’s drowning alongside her.

Six-year-old Mai'rinnen is the only survivor of her peoples' genocide, half a decade later than it should have happened. She finds herself dragged away to a strange land, to be raised amongst cold foreigners until she can be useful to them, struggling to handle the grief and horror she experienced at such a young age.
She grows up. The cruel, hard world continues to drench her in its freezing waters.
It is only the kindness of another hurting, precious soul, that helps her find her warmth again.
