For Maurice to End where the Muddle Begins by OpelForever
Fandom any crappy flick from the nineties, Maurice (1987), Maurice - E. M. Forster
28 Oct 2025
Summary
This is the story of Maurice Hall, Clive Durham, Alec Scudder and some other characters from 'Maurice' by E.M. Forster. They are based on the novel (1913) as well as on the film by James Ivory (1987). Slight difference: my fic is set in the late 20th and the early 21th century, as told by the four main characters during the Covid pandemic.
The series should be viewed as a modern sequel to the original story. Our Forster friends go through the craziest adventures, experiencing love, happiness, sadness and distress and a muddle in general.- Words:

Summary
And finally, Nick and James have reached England. As soon as they have gone through customs at Harwich, they are in for a lovely surprise, because Clive is there to pick them up!
This fic is a direct sequel to the previous ones in this series. It depicts the last months of Nick's and James's tour de monde. If you found their travelogue a bit boring until now, don't despair, because now there's going to be real bad, smutty fluffstuff....Yuck!

Summary
"What had happened that night remained unknown to me, but at the end of it, Mr. Hall was gorgeous, and the thought of us standing in the rain together was dreamy and glorious. I felt close to him. In that rainy evening, we seemed to share something. He didn't see me, but I hoped he had sensed my existence in the rain. And I hoped he felt better for it."
In the 1910's in England, a young gamekeeper caught sight of who he thought was the most gorgeous man ever laid foot in Pendersleigh Park. He kept watching him to the most exhaustive detail, and slowly built connection with him.
A tribute to E.M. Forster's motto "Only connect". A plot filling fic for Maurice (the film, 1987). The last few chapters of Maurice from Alec Scudder's perspective.

Alec and Maurice on Christmas Day several years on. Book is canon, as ever, although there is a certain nod to the film, can you spot it? (Thanks to sweet_fallacy for the idea)

Summary
A vignette of Maurice's journey through the darkest moments of his depression, to the light on the other side. His drunkenness molded from a way to hurt himself in all his misery, to drunk ramblings of the beauty of Alec Scudder, the love of his life. Sadness is the beginning my friends, and love is our end.

Summary
In the time that’s passed since Kyle whisked him away, the black veins spidering across Alex's skin seem to have slowed their progress. He is, at the very least, not getting any worse. Michael’s afraid to touch him for fear of waking him up, but his skin looks less pale, less like he’s burning up with fever. He’s breathing.
Missing scenes from episode 4x13: Kyle supervises Alex's recovery, before Alex and Michael go home and finally get that long hot shower together.

It wasn't like he doubted Alec's feelings, not truly. Sometimes, though – like now, when the whole world was already in turmoil and devotion of any kind too risky a gamble – he wasn't certain that he could be certain of anything.

Summary
The Russet Room, Pendersleigh Park, Wiltshire, night of 13–14 August 1913.
'It seems rather strange.' Words that had seemed to refer to Scudder’s plan to emigrate to the Argentine suddenly took on a new meaning, like a secret code that Maurice had failed to crack until now. Yes, it was strange – and uncanny: this inadmissable, overpowering attraction between them; Scudder suddenly in Maurice’s bed; the strange alchemy of their bodies together.
