Bloodhound snickered from their place on the couch as they heard Walter turn off the shower. They bit their lip at the sound of the dresser drawer gliding open and eagerly anticipated his discovery.
They had mismatched every pair of his socks, fitting a black one together with white, grey with blue, until there was not a single matching pair in the entire dresser. It was perhaps their best idea yet, a mischievous little prank to capture his attention — and they could not wait to see the look on Walter’s face when he realized what they had done.
There was silence for a few beats, their heart thumping loudly, filling the quiet. The sounds of Walter moving about the bedroom resumed. They squirmed in their seat, desperate to hear their name on his lips, the sweet summons they had awaited since he returned home.
“Bloodhound,” Walter called, his voice low and stern. “C’mere.”
