Quaritch doesn't take the bait. He just snags the braid again, and Wainfleet leans back reflexively, still shaking static off his forearms when he realizes he's gotten too close. One arm circles his chest and then the bastard has him—pulls Lyle down until the world sinks into a wall of grass.

Quaritch coughed again, then turned and spat out seawater.
“You...” his voice was rough. “You were supposed to be dead.”
“Thought I was. Guess us Recoms are tougher than we look.”
They were lying on a makeshift platform, just a chunk of metal still floating from the wreck. Ahead of them, Pandora’s coastal jungle stood tall, dark and silent.
