(Oh, good God. Of course something like this would happen at a party. Doesn’t stuff like this always happen at parties? People finding some spare room to hook up and probably never see each other again? See, this is why you should have stayed home.)
You’re partway through trying to figure out the subtlest way to slip out without getting caught when the lump in the bed moves, and you’re already stringing together the best apology you can manage when the blankets flip back. You’re stuttering something about how you’re leaving, you promise, you never saw anything, when a pair of dark blue eyes meets yours from across the bedroom.
You freeze, chest going tight.
“Xavier? What are you doing here?”

Or: Sometimes it's worth it to hide in your coworker's room when a party gets too loud. Sometimes your other coworker—you know, the one you have a quietly raging crush on—is in there, too. And sometimes you have a… less than safe-for-work tabletop game to keep you company.
