The morning after they fall into bed together, Poe wakes up alone.
He’s half-asleep, stretching out in search of Finn’s warmth, when he realizes. His eyes blink open, and in the bright morning light, there’s no doubt. He’s alone.
For a moment, he’s certain last night was a dream, the slide of Finn’s tongue, the heat of his body against his own. But there’s a tell-tale ache in his muscles and the room still smells like sex. Last night happened; it was real. Finn just didn’t stick around after.
Poe navigates his feelings about a casual relationship when he wants it to be anything but.

“Yeah, buddy?” Poe’s voice is muffled by the slow line of kisses he’s dragging along Finn’s jaw. His thumbs press small circles into Finn’s back. Finn stares down at the worn blanket they’re lying on and tightens his grip on Poe’s hip.

“I’m not here for conversation, Connor. I’m just here to take back what’s mine.”
A thousand years have passed since purgatory had emptied and Markus was left behind in the cleanse. With Connor in possession of his extraordinary soul, he was wiped from the hollow in between and reincarnated as a human; abandoning the lover he’d spent so long chasing in the first place. The life he follows takes him back to Markus’ roots and beliefs, leading Connor with a will to serve the church and once he turns of age, become a priest himself.
Markus has waited long enough and is ready to face the ex-incubus in a power dynamic that seems to fit the contempt in his heart. He’s more than ready to give Connor a taste of his own medicine and make sure he remembers who he really is: The demon that he traded his place in heaven for.

Connor is the love of Markus' life. He's his artistic muse, he's the man who makes him do laundry. If he was a schoolgirl, he'd probably doodle 'MARKUS + CONNOR' all over his notebooks along with the thousands of sketches of the man.
