Summary
In which an unlikely love comes to light as the world caves in.
With no memory of how she got there, Alastriona Lavellan finds herself in the middle of a warzone with a murder accusation and a weird glowing mark on her hand that was allegedly sent from the Maker himself. Armed with only her humor and her arsonist tendencies, Aster must find a way to clear her name and somehow save the world at the same time. Everyone is looking towards her for leadership, believing that she is sent from the human gods. Battling with her darker inner turmoil, she is afraid to let them all down, especially a handsome commander.

Jinu’s hands were raised in surrender. He swallowed. Hard. “Minstrel’s new,” he mumbled. “Usually I just get called bastard.”

That froze him cold.
She continued, calmly, “I’ve seen the magpie in air vents, in the bus terminal mirror, on my windowsill at dawn. I may be a damsel,” she pressed the scythe to kiss his alabaster flesh, drawing a trickle of cursed ichor. “But I’m no fool, bastard.”
He primed himself for collision—still Jinu opened his mouth. Closed it. Then opened it again.
“…Right.” He nodded slowly. “So. Not subtle. Noted.”
A tale of elaborate bouquets and loose emperor robes, wherein the god of the underworld wooing the goddess of spring but in modern times and a lot less cooler than the myths.

Summary
“Shut up.” His voice was different this time—stripped of its usual cockiness, replaced by something colder, something dangerous. Oh.
She saw it then—the flicker of something raw in his eyes, quickly buried. A weak spot. A wound still fresh beneath the layers of arrogance and indifference. And she struck again.
“Did I hit a nerve?” she mocked him. “You’re a joke, Nott.” She let out a sharp, humorless laugh. “You act like you’re all cool and breezy, but it's all a lie.”
“You don’t know what–”
“I do, actually. I’m a very good observant and let me tell you,” She pressed her finger into his chest again, each word deliberate. “Of all the people I've observed I have never encountered someone as shallow,” Another jab. His chest rose and fell, his breathing heavier than before.
“Empty,” Again.“And pathetic as—” The words caught in her throat and Theodore’s lips were on hers.
Ophelia Selwyn wondered if it was too late to choose a life as a fugitive. Her previous concerns about where she would go or how she would survive all on her own were looking more and more unimportant and attainable. Anything would be better than being betrothed to Theodore Nott.

Some plot changes, scenes moved/replaced with original writing. I tried to stray from word by word DAI and put my own little twist on it. Please enjoy!
