Maybe it’s Don Quixote’s general courteousness that doesn’t allow her to just wink and follow a woman into her room quietly, especially considering what confusing mess the relationship they two had was. She keeps doing it like this, sneaking as close to Ryoshu as possible and whispering into her ear, flushed in shyness, “wouldst lady Ryoshu mayhap wish to…”, which makes Ryoshu smirk like this is a wildly ridiculous thing to ask about.
It’s not like it doesn’t work. It’s efficient, communicative and well-mannered. And she would really like to leave Ryoshu her favorite method of making a peculiar face and dragging Don Quixote away at random times.Bookmarked by curiouscompass337

1x turned her gaze upwards. “Why?” She asked, feeling a bit dumb. All of her regular sharp words were gone.
Telamon looked down, then back at her. It was a strange stance, almost guilty but not quite. Something about it seemed careful. His lips tensed against each other as he swallowed, and carefully opened his dry mouth to answer back, “It’s your 16th birthday today.”
1x’s eyes shot open. They had become half-lidded due to the warmth which had calmed her, but she was tense all over again. If she had hair on her body, it would all be standing up. “16th?” she said, tense. “It’s my 16th birthday?”
1x1x1x1 had never known how long she was stuck in the banlands for. After Shedletsky reveals her age, inadvertently revealing how long she was locked away, everyone is forced to recalibrate their existing prejudices against each other as the old dream of finding a way out of their hell is rekindled.
After all, if there’s a way in, there must be a way out.
