He looked away for a second, out toward the street, one shoulder lifting in a shrug.
“Nothing exciting,” He looked away toward the city skyline beyond the bay doors. "I'll probably just head home."
Mel hesitated.
"Well," she said, trying to sound casual, "if you're not up to anything... you should come."
Frank looked back at her. "To karaoke?"
"Yeah,” she said. “Could be fun."
He held her gaze for a second too long.
"Yeah," he said quietly. "Maybe."
or - the one where Mel invites Frank to karaoke, and and he's never quite the same afterwards.

“I love used books,” she proffers, eager to be a normal person. “I love when books have a story.”
“Well, I’d say if a book doesn’t have a story, it’s a pretty sad excuse for a book.”
Mel can’t help herself—she snorts. “I didn’t realize you owned the shop,” Mel says quickly, embarrassed. “That must be nice—”
“Yeah, it is,” Frank answers distractedly. “I’m sorry, I’m pretty sure I just saw two time Emmy award winning actress Mel King snort at a joke I made.”
So he really did know her, then, wow.
“Well I’m not sure anyone will believe you,” she jokes lightly.
“Yeah,” Frank breathes, his eyes roving over her face in a stunned sort of awe. “I don’t think anyone will.”

For a moment that seemed to draw on for an hour, nobody said anything, the awkward shock of whatever the hell had just occurred settling between them all. Garcia turned toward Frank slowly.
“What the fuck is up with ER Barbie today?” she asked. “Did Poison Ivy over there key her car or something?”
Santos had to cover her mouth to stifle the laugh that burst out. She would think this was hilarious. He bit his tongue so he didn’t say anything he’d regret - they were just beginning to tolerate each other.
Frank stared out the closed doors. “I have no idea.”
