Summary
He knows Roy's truly gone to sleep beside him when the man's breaths even out, and he sneaks a sideways glance.
Roy looks… serene. Light eyelashes fanning over his cheek, the bridge of his nose just ever-so-slightly crooked as if it had been broken but not set correctly. Oddly enough, it suit him.
Roy Harper was a wily fox, cunning in nature. He would slip through any trap any hunter would set for him, and if wronged, he'll turn his teeth on you. But now… he simply looked peaceful. Jason could admit to himself begrudgingly—the man could make a good king.
But the question was– could Jason take him as his king?
He wouldn't have to. He's not from Star. He couldn't be damned about the prince's motives or whatever results he may make.
He'd said it himself. They were both tools. Sharpening each other just for usage in their own ploys. Jason knows that he's quite comfortable with this arrangement.
His gaze flicks back, but this time it meets a pair of emerald green eyes.
"Can't sleep?"

"Of course," Jason rumbles, "However, I do need to show you my face before our wedding. I don't think your court would take too kindly to a masked man whisking away their precious, pretty prince."
Roy scowls. "Are you afraid that I'm going to bowl over from your hideousness on stage?"
Jason doesn't give him an answer, instead raising his hands behind his head. The sound of metal clasps clicking against one another sends an unexpected thrill down Roy's spine, and he couldn't deny it—he was curious.
Then, the mask falls and plush lips pull into a smirk. Jason stares up at him, and it's oddly expectant.
Roy swallows.
He doesn't remember exactly how many times he's imagined the face that hid beneath that muzzle-resembling mask that only left his eyes uncovered. He's sort of wished that the man would be unsightly. To say he was wrong, was an understatement.

Summary
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Jason's murmurs, the shade that tints Florence's shores staring at him like a hawk.
"Like what?" Roy coughs, trying to look anywhere but Jason's face. His hands ball into fists, clutching the fabric of pants like a lifeline.
"Like…" Jason trails off, placing his wine glass back on the table. The fabric of his shirt's awfully thin, leaving barely anything of his build to the imagination. He shifts himself closer, grasping Roy's shoulder.
He's not prepared for Jason to swing a leg over his thighs and straddle him, Roy's hands flying to his hips.
"Like you want to bite me." Jason says, slow and drawn out, his plush lips forming around the words. His neckline slips past his shoulder.
"…Maybe I do." But maybe not in the way you're expecting. His gums ache, fangs begging to spring out.
"Then why don't you?"

Gravel crunches under the sole of his boot as he turns the corner, heading down the street towards a small building painted in pastel shades.
He can see darts of movement, can hear the delighted shrieks of children and the amused shouts of the attendants trying to wrangle them into some semblance of control while the parents come to pick them up.
"Jason Todd," He says as he sidles up to the counter, eyeing the frosted glass door. He can hear another excited, high-pitched shriek permeate through the walls and the corner of his mouth quirks.
"And you're here for?" The lady at the desk asks, brown eyes framed by thin rimmed glasses flicking up at him, then back down to her computer screen.
"Lian."

The breath's knocked out of his lungs as he's spun around and slammed into the tough bark of an oak.
"Oh," The general snarls, eyes flashing green as his dagger skims the side of Roy's neck, pressing into his jugular. "And what would the pretty little prince know of the poor rat bastard who got himself killed?"
Roy's heart is hammering at a mile a minute.
It actually fucking worked.
"Oh," he lets his eyelids flutter shut, "So yes, I do wonder why that man would care about that kingdom. Besides, General,"
Metal glimmers, a sharp point pressing right under Jason's ribs.
"I think you have more important things to worry about."

“Oh, fantastic,” Jason replies sarcastically, looking sceptical at the archer.
“Do you think we can convince them that we’re together? Maybe even engaged! I’m sure Doctor Thompkins would love to be the officiator!”
At the suggestion Jason feels an immediate vile response on the tip of his tongue. Because what Jason will never admit to anyone who has ever known him is how desperately he wants to be openly loved without shame. That he wants someone who would grab him when they were excited and kiss his palms and smile at him and want him. He wants so viciously to be wanted and he doesn’t know how much longer empty praise from people he had protected or long poetry or old novels full of understanding will be a good enough stand-in for being wanted.
And it was Roy suggesting it. That very fact makes something inside him seethe, something inside him turns into a feral animal from shame. It claws at his rib cage in search of an outlet.
