After nearly dying while deployed, Vi returns home to South Carolina after finding out the love of her life was seeing someone else. Though her mother is thrilled, her sister is less than pleased to see the return of the sister she believes abandoned her.
Eventually Caitlyn and Vi end up meeting at Powder's engagement party and form a trauma bond which they believe is meant to be nothing more than a friendship of understanding. Yet as they begin to spend more and more time together, something deeper beneath the surface begins to form.
