“It’s a love spell,” Kaveh repeated louder, his ears burning.
“Oh,” Alhaitham said simply. “That explains the crowd outside. Found yourself a cursed artefact, did you? By your worksite?”
Kaveh was so surprised that he forgot that he was supposed to be looking away. “How did you know?”
“Your current affliction matches the description of a certain lost ancient artefact. And it wasn’t a stretch to conclude you stumbled upon it at your worksite since that was literally where you said you were going earlier on,” Alhaitham replied calmly.
“... Right,” Kaveh said, hesitantly. “And you don’t feel anything? No sudden urge to proclaim your lo-liking for me or anything?”
Alhaitham flashed him a smirk, and Kaveh's heart stopped beating for a moment. “Why, would you like me to?”Kaveh is cursed to have everyone around him fall in love with him. Everyone except for Alhaitham, apparently.

Viktor turns the uniform over in his hands, smoothing over the wrinkles in the trousers. The buttons are diamond-shaped and hard underneath his fingers.
Leaning forward, his mother places her arm around his shoulders as she lays a white cravat across Viktor’s hands.
It’s the brightest piece of fabric Viktor has ever seen.
“Vitenka,” she whispers. “If you are going to change the world, do not ask for permission. Act like you belong and no one will question you.”
Piltover Academy of Sciences research masters student Jayce Talis isn't really studying crystallography like he told his professors. Viktor isn't even an academy student, he just has an academy uniform his parents made and very little to lose. They run into each other in a school hallway. Literally.
Based on this tweet from one of the Arcane writers that there was a backstory where Viktor's parents helped him sneak into the academy.
