Summary
Despite himself, Suguru opens his mouth before Satoru leaves, and says the name he hasn't said outside of memory in six years.
"Satoru."
That stops the other man altogether.
The shape of his name hangs between them. It's wrong on his tongue — wrong for Suguru to address him by, wrong in this house, wrong after so many years of silence. Suguru hates himself for the softness of the way Satoru's name rolls off his tongue, unable to ever inject real sharpness into it.
When Satoru looks back, head dipped a little and eyes wide, it feels like something has shifted. Suguru wills to find a way back to the blood-boil of anger.
He gives up on searching for it's cruelty. "This isn't fair."
"I know, Suguru."
The first time Gojo Satoru drags Geto Suguru out of his room, they’re thirteen, hidden under willow branches; young enough to believe in existence out of a clan’s reach.
The last time Suguru drags himself out, it’s with stained hands and the promise to never look back.
Only, six years later, he's ordered back into orbit.
