Summary
Max leans over her, rubbing his mouth on her shoulder, sweetly. And it seems almost a miracle to have him this close, clinging to her body every inch, inside and out.
"Look at me," he begs her, pulling his head up so that he is looking directly into her eyes. The swift movement seems to make him dizzy as he tightens his grip on her hips. The light from the street lamps paints soft shadows on his face, gives him new hues. "I hate it when you don't look at me."
And I hate it when you do, she tells herself, holding her breath. Because when you do it I am no longer mine.
Or: Anita is a troubled girl cutting ties with her family and Max is a racing driver having a hard time believing he deserves to be loved.
