Don’t know how I missed this one when it came out. It hits all the high notes:possessive Bucky, protective Bucky, sweet Bucky, dominant Bucky… A great short story set during Bucky’s self imposed exile and self discovery in Eastern Europe and diverging to an AU where Bucky gets an HEA with the Reader. After the untimely death of her parents, the Reader is traveling by train across Europe to meet with her estranged uncle in Turkey when things go very very wrong. The Reader’s sheltered life with her parents must have missed the whole “don’t talk to strangers” lesson—- an encounter on the train leaves her stranded in an alley in an independent territory where everyone has an agenda and no one has a reason to help. Bucky takes her home. From there the Reader and Bucky embark on a very loosely negotiated power exchange with mild kink. Lovey smut scenes throughout. Fantastic kidnapping and showdown in the evil lair as The Winter Soldier retrieves his girl. Interesting denouement with training montages and a hint at a Thunderbolts-esque Bucky-Reader World Tour Revenge.
The one where Bucky calls Reader “Peach” and everybody likes it, Steve makes a brief appearance as backup and manages not to be a douchecanoe, and the Reader becomes a lovely submissive without becoming a complete Mary Sue or a damsel.

I’m not sure about this one. I think I liked it? The violence was beautifully presented. No shying away or fading out. The psychological response to that level of abuse was… maybe less believable (I am a Trauma Nurse with VA experience). But if I view the permanent “regression to a little girl” as a lifestyle choice. The lens is not too uncomfortable or fantastic. Steve and Bucky have fixated on the Reader from an undescribed previous encounter. In the beginning, it’s Bucky’s Show. He’s the one determined to rescue the Reader from Rumlow and Rawlins torture. Due to some twisted “medical opinions” based on a slightly off-base definition of Trauma Fawning—- Bucky is ousted from the Reader’s initial hospital recovery. So Steve steps in and morphs into the perfect soft service Daddy. Okay. I love me some soft Daddy Steve. The story is good—- if a bit uncomfortable at times due to the under-negotiated kink being explored by this triad. That is more triggering than the violence or the sexy times. It is *never* okay to confuse kink for trauma response or the other way round. This story steps reeeeeal close to that line.

Summary
Bucky doesn't understand why no one ever says anything about Tony's PTSD.
A year after they have all come back, after they all hugged and made up, Tony is still jumping anytime someone speaks to him. His hands shake when Steve raises his voice. All he does is work and drink and apologize for being around.
And nobody notices except Bucky, because he is looking. Constantly. Watching Tony as he goes through his day to day.
Bucky looks and LOOKS, until he is having a hard time even wanting to look away from short spiky hair that begs to be mussed, deep brown eyes that always looks so sad, and perfect lips that Bucky just wants to kiss forever.
Bucky looks for so long that now all he wants to do is touch and hold and fix everything. But Tony can barely be in the same room as Bucky, cant even look him in the eye.
So Bucky doesn't know what to do about Tony, but he is determined to do something.
Because all he wants is to look at Tony, and see Tony looking back with a smile.(re-editing and dividing into chapters)

I love this Bucky. He’s so earnest in his appeal to Tony. And Tony is so done. This is the one where Tony apologizes for existing while avoiding everyone after the Rogues return to the Compound. Bucky’s “I like looking at you” during late night repairs to his arm in Tony’s lab evolves to “I love looking at you” as the couple finds peace in each other during weekly hotel room rendezvous. Bucky punches Steve in his rabid face for bullying Tony. Vision outs Steve’s vicious behavior in Siberia. Tony gives Steve the most bittersweet, adult response to his overtures for forgiveness and a return to “what the Avengers had”. Bucky and Tony get a happy ending. This was so sweet.
